Sorry

from Do Better / Sorry by Zig Zag

/
  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

Do Better and Sorry are the first songs Zig Zag ever wrote. For singer Kelly, the months leading up to the band’s formation were turbulent and fraught, losing friendships and loved ones and tackling an onslaught of mental health hurdles. Do Better is a digestion, a plea and a rebirthing. It is a vow that queers will lock arms and protect each other in the face of cruelty and apathy.

Recorded and mixed with nurturing love and camaraderie at Love Shack studios by Jessicca Bennett with support from Rachel Sztanski
Mastered by the masterful Aden Senycia at Love Shack studios
Released with endless support and guidance by Kurt Eckardt and Kalindy Williams via Psychic Hysteria

lyrics

Iʼm sorry That it took me so long to figure out what to do
Iʼm not sorry The one who should be sorry is you
Iʼm sorry That I said donʼt worry that I made an excuse
Iʼm not sorry no more apologising for you

Itʼs not my job to lay down the law
Iʼm just the one who said no more
I wanna forgive I wanna let it go
But you buried your burden In women and queer people

Are you sorry? Yeah, you apologised
You said sorry and it still didn’t make it right
A line can be fine you were right by my side
But i wonʼt let this slide not this time
Would you be sorry?
To count the number of times I cried I tried I tried

Itʼs not my job to lay down the law
Iʼm just the one who said no more
I wanna forgive I wanna let it go
But you buried your burden In women and queer people

I didn't step in to take your place
So you leave behind an empty space
Put my foot down so hard it made holes I canʼt fill
You flexed your muscles so I learned how to yell
I came here to dance not to cry
I shouldn't have bothered, should I?
